Compliance to new Regulations and Standards in packaging

New demands on packaging design and functionality are coming in order to reduce littering. How do I meet the requirements?

Lately, there's been many alarming reports on how increased packaging usage leads to littering and serious environmental problems around the world. On the other hand, packaging is often an environmental hero and plays a great role in reducing food waste, optimizing shelf life and making sure our consumer goods are safe to consume and arrives in good condition.

Decision makers like the European Commission have reacted vigorously and new stricter rules on packaging functionality and design to try to reduce waste and littering will soon be put in force.

The new rules relate to requirements in design and functionality, chemical content - especially for food contact packaging - and higher targets for recycling. There's a lot of uncertainty about the challenges in meeting these requirements.

How do I know if I meet the new requirements? And how can the new legislation, standards and regulations help me improve and retain a competitive edge?
